McNEWS Reader is a software which allows to import MacWEEK text files and to read them confortably showing an index and runnig sequencely the news, besides, it allows to do every kind of search on news.
With McNEWS Reader we could keep all your MacWEEKs handy and we could consult them as if they were a great super-magazine.
• MacWEEK Index.
This environment shows you two fields: "ISSUE" and "IN THIS ISSUE".
ISSUE: it shows you the issue of MacWEEK we have imported. Clicking on the desired issue we may see the index in "IN THIS ISSUE" field.
IN THIS ISSUE: it shows you the current selected MacWEEK index. Clicking on the desired news we can reach the "NEWS" environment.
Under the two fields "ISSUE" and "IN THIS ISSUE" there is the tools bar with its buttons.
IMPORT MACWEEK: It allows you to import the MacWEEK text file making indexes and cards for it.
TRANSLATE: It allows you to translate bad files o eWorld format in McNEWS Reader format.
COMPACT: It Allows you to compact stack saving space on Hard Disk.
FIND: It takes you to the FIND environment where you may do all the research you want.
GO BACK: It takes you to the last news read.
?: It shows you the registration information.
DELETE: It allows you to delete the desired MacWEEK choosing it from the ISSUE field or STOP the delete function if it is in use.
EXPORT: It allows you to export the desired MacWEEK into a text file choosing it from the ISSUE field or STOP the export function if it is in use.
QUIT: It quits "McNEWS Reader".
• The NEWS Environment.
In this environment there are three fields, the first shows you the issue of MacWEEK you are consulting, the second the title of the news and the third contains the news.
In the tools bar there are:
GO BACK TO THE INDEX: It is the first button on the right, it takes us to the main index of MacWEEK.
ALL/MARKED: This button shows you what kind of card you may watch. If it is "All" you may watch all the cards in the stack, if it is "Marked" you may watch only the marked cards in the stack.
FIND: It takes you to the FIND environment where you may do all the research you want.
FONT: It allows you to change font choosing among "Palatino 12", "Monaco 9" and "Geneva 9"
PRINT: It allows you to print either the card you are reading or only the marked cards or all cards you have on the stack.
UNMARK ALL/FOUND: This button allows you to Unmark either all cards you have marked or only the cards marked with you last research.
MARK/UNMARK: It allows you to mark/unmark the card you are reading. It is like a book-mark.
The last four buttons allow you to sail from a piece of news to another. Their names are, from left to right; FIRST, PREVIOUS, NEXT, LAST.
FIRST: It takes us to the first news we have. If the "MARKED" button is ON it takes us to the first marked news.
PREVIOUS: It takes us to the previous news. If the "MARKED" button is ON it takes us to the previous marked news.
NEXT: It takes us to the next news. If the "MARKED" button is ON it takes us to the next marked news.
LAST: It takes us to the last news we have. If the "MARKED" button is ON it takes us to the last marked news.
• The FINDER Environment.
We can reach it by clicking on the "FIND" button. It is made by three fields and four buttons.
in the first field we should write the "word to find". The second on the left shows us the alphabetical index, clicking on a letter it shows us the title of the article which contains the word desired.
Clicking on a title it shows us the news with the word we are searching for.
Now while it is searching it marks all card with the word we are searching for so, putting ON the MARKED button you may read only the found news.
The button "FIND" starts the research, but also pushing the keys "Return" or "OK" the research starts.
We may do three kind of research using the jolly character "*".
For example I want to search the word APPLE:
1) If I write APPLE: the software will find all and only the words APPLE.
2) If I write APPLE*: the software will find APPLE but also APPLETALK.
3) If I write *APPLE*: the software will find APPLE, APPLETALK, MAPPLE, MAPPLETALK and all the words which contain the string APPLE.
The button on the tools bar have the same functionality:
GO BACK TO THE INDEX: It is the first button on the right, it take us to the main index of MacWEEK.
GO BACK: It takes you to the last news read.
• Registration Fee.
McNEWS Reader is shareware, if you like it after 30 days you should send me the Registration Fee which is:
10 U.S. $ for international users.
